New Features for the EDW-100 from Westermo
The EDW-100, our popular serial to Ethernet converter has
been enhanced with a new release of firmware. This firmware
is installed in all new EDW-100 units, but can also be requested
to upgrade existing units.
This new release provides two exciting new features. The
EDW-100 can now act as a Modbus gateway allowing conversion
between serial Modbus (RTU or ASCII) and Modbus TCP over Ethernet.
This is a comprehensive implementation allowing the EDW-100
to function either in server or client mode.
The unit also now fully supports IGMP multicasting meaning
that when the EDW-100 is used to encapsulate a standard serial
multidrop protocol the overhead of traffic on the Ethernet
network is kept to a bare minimum, especially in networks
supporting IGMP snooping.
Whats more, is that all of this extra functionality is available
at no extra cost!
